No plates, no cutlery, just a big platter with rolls and dipping sauce. Eating casually at the kitchen bench is my idea of a Tuesday night dinner at home. What could be better than freshly rolled rice wraps with tender thinly sliced beef fillet, what was marinated in garlic and hoisin all day… Stacked with pungent Vietnamese basil and thin vermicelli, wilted cabbage and eggplant and just enough silken tofu for a bit of contrast… I forgot to mention the crunchy cucumber and sweet chilli sauce. They are a bit of effort to make, but it balances out when there is virtually no washing up at the end. Part of the ingredients came from the supermarket, and part came from our garden and the local markets.
