What is red velvet? A strange combination of chocolate and vanilla with a deep rich red color, it’s hard to describe before and even after tasting it, but one thing I do know is that it works. You can find just about anything red velvet these days, cakes, muffins, scones, pancakes and of course the richly decadent brownie. Most of the red velvet brownies are topped with a cream cheese icing, and there are a few where you find it swirled into the batter, and then you have mine which is a swirl with a bit of crunch using thick unsweetened desicated coconut. You could be more creative and swirl with dark chocolate cream cheese, or even cashew butter with honeycomb.
